Product routing and dispatch control in Sněžka Náchod using RFID

The aim of this solution was to improve control over the movement of products around the hall and to achieve error-free dispatch of goods by means of writing on RFID tags.

A customer contacted us with a requirement that is necessary in the automotive industry. It is zero error rate in shipping the goods. We suggested checking with RFID UHF tags.

The reason is the possibility to assign a unique number to the product from the customer's ERP system, to write on the RFID tag information about who handled the producthandles the product during production and also the number/identifier required by the customer. The main advantage is an immediate check at the time of dispatch that the package contains the correct products and that the correct number of products are in the container.

We use the DUR120, a desktop RFID UHF reader with a shorter range. For dispatching, we use Alien ALR-F800 fixed readers, which ensure 100% content retrieval thanks to two external antennas. In order to simplify the work of the operator, we have included a visual check of the performed activities at all steps. A green light is illuminated when the entry in the tag is verified, a red light is illuminated in case of an error, and the same when checking the goods being dispatched.

The chosen method is more expensive than checking using barcodes or 2D codes, but it allows Sněžka Náchod to have all the information about the dispatchand the workers who have handled the product on one tag and, above all, it gives the assurance that the check on dispatch of goods is error-free and immediate. It takes less than a second to load a crate and after verification in the ERP system the crate can leave.
