Complete solution for order picking and label printing in the cold room
We were approached by FitKitchen to create a complete solution for precision picking orders that come in from customers via a web interface into their online system. Not only did we create a mobile terminal app, but we also made it possible to print labels right in the cool room with a heated enclosure for an industrial label printer.
After a warehouse worker logs into the app, he retrieves the list of couriers for the day from the system's web service, selects one specific one and the terminal displays a list of bags for the selected courier. He loads the first bag to be packed, displays the list of items - in our case, boxes of chilled food. He then reads the barcode on the shelf, moves the box to the bag and continues in this way until the last item. Once he has an empty list, he can instruct the terminal to print out a labelon which the list of packed items, the name of the courier and warehouseman, and the exact date and time of packing are listed.
The whole picking process is done in a cold room where the temperatures are really low. That's why we also supplied a special heated box. One of the key features of this equipment is the ability to adjust the desired heat output depending on the environment in which the printer is used. This ensures that the printer always operates in the optimum temperature range.
