Tiskárny etiket dělíme podle typu použití na přenosné (mobilní), stolní (kancelářské) a průmyslové. Tiskárny využívají technologie Thermo Transfer (TT) - tisk přes barvicí pásku (papírové etikety, PE etikety) nebo Direct Thermal (DT) - přímý tisk na teplocitlivý materiál (termo-etikety).
