If the 1D/2D barcode scanner is to be used as a keyboard reader, you need to run the ScanWedge application in "WinStart - Power Tools". Starting is indicated by the barcode symbol on the Windows bottom bar. The scanner will only light up when the scan button is pressed if the cursor is in a field that can be written to from the keyboard!
If the Scan Demo application from "WinStart - Demos" is running, the ScanWedge application must be switched off (to switch it off, it must be clicked again in "WinStart - Power Tools"), otherwise the barcode scanner will not work.
